HP Pavilion G Series Pavilion G7-1200 Specifications By Eko Kristianto Posted on January 31, 2012 March 16, 2012 HP Pavilion G7-1200 Review Pavilion G7-1200 is based on Intel Core i3-2330M dual-core processor. Maintaining updated HP Pavilion G6 Series software prevents crashes and maximizes hardware and system performance. Using outdated or corrupt HP Pavilion G6 Series drivers can cause system errors, crashes, and cause your computer or hardware to fail. Furthermore, installing the wrong HP drivers can make these problems even worse.
Software - Productivity & finance Microsoft® Office Starter: reduced-functionality Word and Excel® only, with advertising. No PowerPoint® or Outlook®. Buy Office 2010 to use the full featured software. The speed of this laptop is far superier to my old one and very lightweight. Keyboard has a light but very sensitive touch (not for the heavy handed) and also indicates when my Caps Lock Key is on or off. The sound quality is super and easy to adjust on the keyboard. The two USB ports on the left side of the computer are a fraction too close to each other.
Not able to insert a memory stick and another USB plug at the same time. Had to purchase a USB Hub. The Up and Down cursor keys a bit on the narrow side and could be larger.
Lettering on the very right hand keys would be better in capital letters as they are rather small to read. I find the blue lettering on the screen not easy to read but must still find out how to change the colouring. On the whole, I am very pleased with my purchase.

My first introduction to the world of computers was a HP Mini 110 Netbook it is the one you could say I 'broke' my teeth on in 2008. Teaching myself the basics of computing at the late age that I was, living by myself I had no one to turn to for help so I relied much on the help of those that did know HP being one for support. I progressed today to owning a HP Pavilion g6 64 bi t which I purchased from PC World this one I prize to keep me abreast of my friends & want I want to find out about the world of computing. So for anyone starting out the way I did then HP is the one, it has reasonable priced computer that are affordable & reliable with the added support of a well established Name. The Pavilion g6 I acquired in November of 2011 has all the functions that make it easy to use & with 4 GB of RAM it is quick too. I am not a technical person so the persons reviewing my review will have to put some of their trust in the name of H P.
As I have, but as far as I can say No one better. I personally love the sleek design and overall feel of this laptop. The screen quality is brilliant as is the sound, not to mention the colour (purple) so much better than the usual boring colours. However a few things might make all the difference, such as putting the fan outlet at the rear instead of the side, the same with the power cable inlet.
This laptop seems to heat up very quickly -which i have over come by purchasing a laptop cooler to hopefully prolong it's life. This laptop suffers from unexplained shut down after several hours of use which is very annoying although i feel this is down to too much heat in the components but not too sure on that. This leads to having to restart the system, therefor going through the safe start routine. This becomes very tedius after a while and i hope it isn't doing any permanent damage. On the plus side it is light wieght, quick as it's a 4gb RAM set up and very stylish. The shutting down problem shouldn't put you off buying this laptop (which is very well priced) as it could be something i have or havn't done- i will look into this problem a bit more to see if anything can be done such as a simple programme change (i'm no pc genius).
All in all very good for a very good price. As a dedicated technophobe who remembers log tables and thought electronic calculators were a miracle (which they were) I have resisted this cultural move as long as possible, so this review is from the point of view of a total novice.I had prepared myself in advance with a smartphone for a couple of years, but in reality using a computer is becoming 'culturalized', its rath er like trying to memorize the reference section of the Encyclopedia Britannica for an appearance on Mastermind. In reality you have to put the time in to learn as you go along, learning patterns, routines, keywords and so on, you have to immerse yourself in the culture to learn the language. In this respect the HP Pavilion G6 is outstandingly easy to use. In the shortest time I find my life organised and my reach extended dramatically, and my belief that I would never manage to overcome this doubt once and for all put to bed. Having said that, I have engaged Currys' service agreement as backup, just in case! Finding your way around is easy, the software which comes preloaded is excellent and gets you off to a great start, battery life is amazing, the screen is fantastic, what can I say?
Next time I will buy an even better one! This one's a game changer! Bought this HP Pavilion g6-1200 notebook PC for my mother - she had never used a pc before.
Unfortunately, after only a few weeks the pc kept crashing and it was discovered to be a fault with the boot drive. Was very impressed with the level of service provided by HP for the repair both on the phone for initial support and then when the pc was uplifted and taken away for repair. Would rather it hadn't been faulty in the first place - but could not fault the service and support provided by HP in any way.
PC now back in our possession and working perfectly. I am a 76yr old male who had no idea, how to operate a computer, untill last January. I finally decided to come into the 21st century, and went to pc world and purchased this brilliant product,i had a few rudimentry lessons off a friend,i bought a couple of books and read up, what i thought was relivent to get me going. Just look at me now,i love horse racing the imformation is fantastic, i can write and receive emails, im on skype so now i can keep in contact, with my familly in Australia simply brilliant Brian. This laptop is the best I have ever had. The processor is not does not have the best performance on the market, but the massive 6gb of ram and excellent graphics card makes the laptop brilliant.
Games have been good quality, it can multitask well and the 500gb hard drive gives me the space to have all I want just a few clicks away. The only thing that is criticisable is the pr ocess, as it does take a few minutes to start up, but after that the laptop has good performance all round. Thank you HP:). I purchased the laptop because my desktop was getting really old and really needed an upgrade, the performance and the graphics are very powerful but one thing i disliked about the computer was after about 5 months windows crashed so i had to reformat the computer using the built in recovery software what came with it. I tried backing the files up but it failed at about 50% so i lost all of my music, pictures and other files which i was not happy about, as i had to reinstall some software on the computer, since then it has not crashed, the computer handles very well with games although sometimes you have to restart the computer if you want to play using a disk which i can find very annoying. Overall i find his computer suitable for all of my needs and i would definitely recommend to a friend.
I was fairly specific in my requirements for a new laptop; used mainly for work purposes, including email and web. I wanted the touchpad to be central and I wanted a wide, easily visible screen. My son provided the spec I needed to look for and I actually bought this after ringing HP sales and receiving excellent customer service. I also have a HP desktop and two HP printers so probably pretty biased anyway, but as I have always been happy with the product, this would be why. Love the look and feel of the laptop too. I have had this laptop for approx 1 month now and have thrown quite alot at (VMWare mainly) which it has coped quite well with.
The only thing that I would recommend is upgrading the ram to 8gb which is what I did makes it just that little bit quicker. The only thing that I found annoying was the tricks you can do with the mouse i.e pinch zoon and double finger scroll I found w hen just surfing the web it decided to scroll and zoom by it self however I disabled the features which solved the problems and made me happy. Having owned my unit for only two weeks and having to return this due to a faulty hard drive did not impress me.Upon reporting this the unit then would not power up so off it went for repair. The repair center then informed me that it was also having a new key board fitted as well as a new hard drive which puzzled me as i did not know of a fault with the key board. The unit has now been back in my possession for two months now and my problem with the keyboard is that the up and down arrow buttons are half the size of the rest of the buttons.
They feel realy flimsy and look like they could fall out at any minutes as they are misaligned. Also the left mouse control button has sunk to a lower level than the right button. For the price of this unit from a top name brand i would expect better, i fear that because of the condition of this particular unit from new it could be in the repair center frequently. Overall performs well but lacks quality in controls. This is a really nice laptop that looks amazing and works really well, would definitely recommend. PROS: - Looks great, in blue at least smudges don't really show, and easy to wipe clean - Textured touchpad - No problems so far with software, hasn't BSOD yet.
Battery lasts about 4 hrs, with wi-fi on (my last laptop lasted about 7 minutes so for me this is a plus) - Keyboard has scrabble keys but it's actually pretty easy to type with because it's not completely flat. CONS: - The screen's a bit too glossy and really shows up reflections, so you have to be strategic about where you use it.
Wi-fi is the F12 key so you'll probably accidentally turn it on and off a couple of times at the start. In short - looks great, performs great, a few annoying things but easily overcome, so all in all great value for money as a mid-range laptop. As a computerphobe the fear of having to 'start again' with a new laptop made me hang on to my old one well past its sell by date.
Having finally plucked up the courage to get a new one, and with 'techie' friends lined up to help, I read the reviews, visited the stores, and bought the HP Pavillion. A piece of cake!!
Who needs techies? Plug in, switch on, follow the instructions and your're off!! It's ten times faster and easier to use than my old one, I'd recommend this to anyone. I use it mainly for surfing the web, personal office stuff, and emails etc, but even I can tell it's capable of a lot more than I need it for. If you are worried in the slightest about getting started on or changing to a new laptop - this is grreat. I am delighted with this PC.
Even at first glance the colours offered are very attractive. I chose a deep blue for myself and a pink for my granddaughter. She uses the pc for research and producing documents for her coursework and of course social networking sites.
I use the pc for news, watching live coverage on news and also programmes I have missed on the television. I resea rch information for my younger grandchildren and correspond using other facilities. The only thing that has bothered me is that I cannot seem to print any tables that contain colour without the lines wobbling and some text distorting. I have an HP printer but the two will just not co-operate with one another. However I still love my HP Pavilion g6. Purchased this notebook from Comet a few months ago to replace my worn out PC which had suffered a terminal hard drive failure.
I had backed up all my needed files and was able to download these to the new Laptop very easily This Laptop is very easy to use it has an excellent Help facillity and diagnosic software in built as well as other facilities for keeping the unit in top condition. The only downside so far is that I have found that the in built mouse pad is not as sensative as a standard mouse so have purchase a very reasonably priced HP wireless mouse which works really well. I don't normally like using laptops but found this one so easy to use and set up. It feels good quality and is really quick. I would recommend it to students and those new to the email, internet or general home use. I use it for study and work combining all of the Microsoft packages.
Support from HP has been great. It can be accessed by the internet and email or pick up the p hone and speak to someone. The laptop is light, portable but strong and the picture and sound are excellent. Keyboard is good and easy to use too. I had a hp compaq precario prior to this purchase had that about 7 years not a problem with it at all it was great. After considering many other laptops I went with this one if it's as good and lasts as long then this will be a good buy to. This one looks nice got all the extras and more upto date but I find I don't like the white letters on a black background on the keyboard m y other one had black on grey keys which I found easier to see and use especially in low light levels.
But think this is a good buy for what I want. To begin with I was pleased but then, as I used the internet more I realised that, unlike other computers in the house, the wireless reception from a router placed within a couple of yards could only register `fair'. One day when I went to log on I found the computer locked and struggled to find a way of accessing. This happens from time to time still. The Norton security progr amme was constantly telling me that updates were needed - why?
When I have only had the computer for just over a month. I find that there are many times when I tap the pad or depress the left key that the computer does not respond: this has happened in the lat two days when I wanted to closedown Live Mail. I had expected a much better product!! I would not normally buy a machine with shared graphics.
However, with 6GB of ram, 64bit win7 and the excellent i5 chip, the hp g5 does everything I want given its very reasonable price. I do heavy number crunching and it is even running the XP software that I use for this and was told would not operate under win7. Hence very pleased with its performance. There does seem to be one problem however; namely, the space bar is verytemperamental and only seems to work when pressed heavily or precisely in the centre, which is difficult. Consequently, when typing text, youhave to keep going back to insert missing spaces between words, which is most irritating.
I don't know if thisis adesign or manufacturing fault but I don't fancy taking it back to the shop to get fixed. Purchased g6 notebook on 8th january all good, on15th of feb left mouse pad button started rocking and felt a little strange eg selecting things with very little pressure. I took laptop back to a pc company who are world famous who told me the pad under the button had broken, i asked for a replacment unit and was told it was only under a 28 day replacement warranty and would ha ve to go away for repair.
I was none to impressed by this as would not have my new laptop until 1st of march. I feel although the laptop was new it is now a reconditioned unit. They told me it was a manufactures rule to their rule.
Th HP Pavillion g6-1200 with AMD A8 Quad core processer is proof that value and power are not polar opposites when it comes to home computing. I have never felt compelled to write a review before I bought this laptop computer. It has great performance on video and graphics which you do not expect with on oars graphics but this chip from AMD seems to handle both seperately and d oes a good job without the loss of too much processer power. It may not be the best high quality games playing machine but it holds it's own in other areas such as video and music which is why I bought it in the first place.
It came with 6gb of RAM which is more than enough for most needs and the LCD screen is perfect for watching HD video but I plug mines into an external monitor at home for higher resolution images. Hewlett Packard's performance management and maintenance software is intuitive and helps keep the computer performing at its best which is great for people new to fine tuning their computer to get the best performance. I highly recommend this laptop too anyone. Unfortunately, I have not had a great experience with my HP laptop, after hearing how reliable they are I'm afraid my experience was the complete opposite. Having lived with a decrepit, old, ridiculously slow laptop for the last few years, I was very excited and happy when I got a lovely, shiny, purple HP Pavilion, with a frankly BRILLIANT spec, for Christmas, which looked abs olutely amazing - so imagine my disappointment when I took it out the box and it wouldn't turn on!
(despite being plugged in and the battery charging). As it turned out, it would turn on using the 'Quickweb' function on the top row of the keyboard, but the power button itself had absolutely no effect.
So.it went back to the shop, where I was given a replacement (happy days!) All was well with my replacement laptop, for all of a week.until one day, the hard drive failed in a spectacular fashion! I am well aware that these things happen all the time with computer technology, but I had my previous laptop for 6 years and never had a hard drive problem with it, so I would not expect it of a week old machine! Following this disappointing experience, I would not advise anyone to buy this laptop. I know HP's have a reputation for being 'reliable', but to have 2 fail on me in less than a fortnight is not very good going and although this is my first experience with HP and it is only a specific model I've had issues with, I would certainly be put off purchasing another one in the future! The only real positive I have of this model is that it looks fantastic.but that's no good to me if it doesn't work! So good, my daughter got one for herself too. As an guy who works in IT, I appreciate the quality of this laptop for the price it cost.
Light, easy to use, battery life ok and adequate for my normal needs (internet, word, excel, ebay, website maintenance and skype) It has worked seemlessly from the moment I turned it on. It even automatically downloaded a new bios ( which fre aked me out a little cos it was without my aid). Windows 7 comes with word and excel lite.
And bonus of bonus's. It had norton antivirus on it from day one with promised discount after two months(instead of the awful awful McAfee that some makers us.) And to cap it off. Its purple - colour of kings - and my favourite. And the irony. I work for a competitor.
Yet don't regret buying this HP laptop to date. My previous laptop was getting old and rather slow. I took advice and decided to go for quad core. I soon ended up with a short list of 3 or 4 possibilities, taking into account spec and cost, but to be honest, after looking again, there was only one choice.
Since it arrived, I have found it to be an excellent buy, and although I spent more than I had originally planned to do b ecause of the quad core, I have not regretted that for one moment! The speed is amazing and I'm not waiting ages for the next page- it has made browsing so much better! Also, it has so many other excellent features, so I would recommend it to anyone who is looking! Nice little tool. Love the colours, nice and bright to cheer you up, full marks for feel good! Has many functions to help folks starting with computers - others can hit delete if they don't like, no need to buy extra programs when you purchase. I have had a computer for 8 years, feeling confident, would have loved to have this as my first computer Any folk in my age group, 68 +, will find this computer works for them.
Getting fussy so don't like the tune up, protect my trash bin, and Norton is not my security of choise. Good starting tool, reliable, once you get the hang of it you can add on, uninstall and delete. Shopping on line saves the pennies, pics of the family is a treat. Grand children and great grand children in Oz - thrilled to get pics sooo sweet!
Now where is that spell check! I'm not the best at computers at all, but I knew I wanted a HP notebook laptop for work after getting a HP desk top computer a few years ago. I've never had a problem and found the customer service was great when I had a problem about setting it up. This is part of the reason I wanted to stick with HP. So pleased I did.
I adore this laptop, It does everything I want and more. G reat for internet use and office work. It looks charming as well =) Really easy to use and get the hang of, The battery life is pretty good as well. All in all I would recommend this is anyone. Bought this to replace my ageing pc for general web browsing / record keeping and although meant spending somewhat more than intended hoped the i5 would be better in the longer term as i want this to not outdate too soon! I had some reservations because of reviews of overheating on some models but was re-assured by retailer( who had it on special offer for little more than an i 3 on other makes).
I recently purchased a HP laptop but after only two weeks, the left hand mouse button fell off. I took it back to where I purchased it from and they said I had to have a replacement laptop. I ended up with this one but the left hand mouse button has gone loose already (just two weeks again) but at least it's still attached this time. Also, always make sure that you only use one hand to type as the laptop gets 'confused' when two hands are placed anywhere near the mouse pad. With mine the cursor stops moving and/or the text changes sizes. Apart from that, it's no better or worse than any other laptop I've owned.
Overall the product is good but not perfect. It came with a Well known antivirus installed so the first job was to get rid of that. I found the Touch pad quite difficult to get used to and I personally do not like the 'Lock button' in the corner of the pad as it is too easy to accidentally touch. I have been in touch with HP help line on two occasions about the Pointer movement.
It seems to stick on occasions, but is perfect if a Mouse is used. Personally I have found no advantages of Windows 7 over Vista but this view might alter after more use.
I have no regrets in purchasing my HP notebook. I purchased HP because I use an HP printer which is excellent. I cannot say I would definitely purchase HP again, but I certainly wouldn't discount it.
